CFF14: BLOGGING BEHIND BARS

CFF_Blogging Behind BarsBLOGGING BEHIND BARS
Presented as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival ’14 Elementz
Over-the-Rhine

The creators of Cincy Fringe hits THE WAVE, and NOTHING, present the true events of Whitney Smith; a young non-violent criminal writing an award-nominated blog from inside the walls of a maximum-security prison. Caged with America’s most violent convicts, Whit’s sober insight and self-deprecating humor aid in coping with the anguish of institutionalization. Influenced by Bill Waterson (Calvin & Hobbes), reflections on prison reform have never been illustrated so “wittily.”

Hey there, fringers! The six of us have decided to accept ourselves in all our varied, neurotic, and often contradictory glory. We’re applauding our triumphs, cringing at our failures, and rooting for each other as we learn to just be. We sing, dance, and talk, about relationships and stuff. Our passion is mixed with self-doubt, but we promise to give you everything we’ve got! Let’s laugh and cry together, shall we?

CFF14: AROUND DARK MATTER

The piece deals with the remembrance of the Holocaust and explores it from the collective point of view and from my personal point of view. Are my obsession with the Holocaust and the intensity of my remembrance of it a result of my personality or are they influenced by the way my country wants me to remember it. I try to understand the force that keeps pulling me to immerse myself in this dark matter.
