Audition Requirements

Please bring a resume/headshot and any conflicts from June 1, 2026–August 8. 2026.

Please be ready to demonstrate a general English accent – various dialects are needed.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script.

Some actors might be asked to stay for the next session depending on the mix of people signed up.

All cast members will be required to become members of The Drama Workshop and agree to TDW’s Code of Conduct prior to rehearsals starting.

The Drama Workshop is a community theatre organization that performs at the Glenmore Playhouse Cheviot, OH. These roles are not paid.
Synopsis:
Ten strangers, each harboring a dark secret, are lured to a secluded island mansion off the Devon coast by an anonymous host. Accused of past unpunished crimes, they begin to be killed one by one in accordance with a sinister nursery rhyme, as suspicion and paranoia rise.
Character List:

THE BUTLER – Thomas Rogers (m, 30’s). Rogers and his wife have been hired as caretakers of the eight guests who will be arriving. Thomas, a butler, has been put in charge of the household, attending to everyone’s needs. He is good at what he does but overwhelmed by lack of help.

THE COOK/HOUSEKEEPER – Ethel Rogers (f, 30’s). While she is technically employed as a cook, like her husband, Ethel is expected to go beyond the scope of her position. Ethel is nervous and overwhelmed.

THE GENERAL – John Gordon MacKenzie (m, 60’s). General MacKenzie is a war veteran and widower. He is somber and resigned.

THE JUDGE – Sir Lawrence Wargrave (m, 60’s-70’s). A retired criminal judge, Wargrave is a sober and rigid man of the law. He maintains a cool head even when circumstances become increasingly tense.

THE PHYSICIAN – Dr. Edward Armstrong (m, 50’s-60’s). Dr. Armstrong is a highly successful nerve specialist who used to be a surgeon. He was invited under the pretense of treating Mrs. Owen. He is defensive and irritable.

THE PLAYBOY – Anthony James Marston (m, 20’s). Handsome, youthful, from a wealthy family and oozing with entitlement and arrogance.

THE POLICE OFFICER – William Henry Blore (m, 50’s). A former police officer, Blore is now a private detective. He presents himself as wise and in charge after initially being “under cover”.

THE SECRETARY – Vera Claythorne (f, 25-35). Vera, a former governess, was hired to serve as secretary to Mrs. Owen, wife of the mysterious host. She is intelligent, poised and confident.

THE SPINSTER – Emily Brent (f, 50’s-60’s). Emily, a spinster, is self-righteous, judgmental, and negative. Her rules for proper living allow for no exceptions.

THE SOLDIER – Captain Philip Lombard (m, late 30’s). Captain Lombard is confident and self-assured and more than proud of his military service in Africa. He looks out for number one but is attracted to Vera.
Production Dates: Performances run 3 weekends from July 24 – August 9, 2026. There are a total of 10 performances. Friday 7:30 pm, Saturday 7:30 pm, Sunday 2pm each weekend, with a Thursday 730pm performance during the final weekend.
Rehearsal Plan: Pending confirmation of actors’ availability, the rehearsal schedule will be three rehearsals per week beginning in June 2026.
