Joseph Bruce Ismay, an English businessman who served as chairman and managing director of the White Star Line of steamships becomes the perfect scapegoat for the sinking of the Titanic. Ismay saved as many people as he could, but with no women and children in sight, he stepped into the last lifeboat…and was branded a coward and a traitor forever. This play deals not only with the disaster itself, but the sensationalized trials and aftermath of an event that changed the world forever.
Casting Requirements:
- Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
- A résumé and headshot are not required but are appreciated.
- Please provide a list of all known conflicts between July 7 & Sep 4, 2016.
This is a movement play. Those auditioning should be able to move, sit, and stand easily. This production will use eight actors to play over sixty roles by changing costume pieces and using hand props and a minimal set (much like the Royal Shakespeare’s NICHOLAS NICKLEBY or PETER AND THE STARCATCHER.) Actors never leave the stage and work as an ensemble to tell the story. Most characters speak with standard British accents.
Actors who can speak with an Irish or Scottish dialect should be prepared to demonstrate one as part of auditions, but this is not a requirement.
