CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
THE CHILDREN
- Rudy: 10 -13. A smart, wise-cracking kid who’s starting to question family values and the Roman Catholic
- Georgie: 12 – 14. A jubilant spirit and an enthusiasm for each of his family members. Be careful what you say around him though, he’s a little sponge who soaks up everything.
- Eddie: 15 – 17. Fixated on girls, dirty magazines and the impure thoughts that inevitably come with both!
- Anna: 15 – 16. The oldest of the Pazinski children but has no more figured out than the others. Though she doesn’t say much, there seems to be something stirring beneath her shy exterior.
THE ADULTS
- Sister Clarissa: Over 50. Stereotypical hard-nosed, ruler wielding nun who goes up against Rudy
- Ellen: late 40s to early 50s. Between Chet and the kids, she struggles to keep her family together.
- Chet: late 40s to early 50s. A hard time making ends meet and supporting his family. This sometimes makes him very frustrated, putting him at a distance from the ones he loves.
SYNOPSIS: It’s the 1950s, and the Pazinski family has a lot going on in their cramped Buffalo apartment. The youngest of the bunch, 12-year-old Rudy, is a smart, wise-cracking kid who’s starting to question family values and the Roman Catholic Church. When Rudy goes up against the rulerwielding Sister Clarissa and announces that instead of being confirmed he’d rather shop around for a more “fun” religion, all hell breaks loose. A warm and hilarious look at family, growing up, and God.
