Initially presented as part of the 2014 FringeNext Series, Meddling Kids returns with Ikelos as part of Know Theatre’s Fringe Encore programming.

Diagnosed with narcolepsy at a surprisingly young age, awkward teenager Ike is learning to adjust to a life riddled with untimely and unpredictable spurts of sleep. As he struggles to pass his final semester of high school, Ike does his best to distinguish his whimsical dreams from his unpromising reality. Ike’s relatable narrative explores both the tragedy and humor of our fantasies.

The American frontier, 1867- A young woman flees her war-torn home to start a new life in an unfamiliar land. A thirteen-song cycle of love, betrayal and redemption in Western Kansas, sung by the ghost of Anna Morgan Faber.

1967, Detroit. When their parents die, Chelle and Lank inherit their childhood home. To make ends meet, the siblings host “basement parties,” spinning the newest records to come out of Motown, a risky business as police crack down on after-hours joints in black neighborhoods. But when a mysterious white woman finds her way into their care and a string of raids increases police brutality around the city, they find themselves much more divided than over just the family business. Content advisory: This production contains strong language and adult themes and may not be suitable for all audiences.

Auditions Announced for ROMEO AND JULIET at Bare Boards Theatre Company

Auditions are open to adults and students in grades 6-12.

What to bring: Bring the audition sheet (download from the top of this page) filled out with ALL your conflicts written on the back. Bring a copy of your monologue. You may choose to bring a resume and headshot, but they are not required. Wear clothes that you can move in comfortably.

Preparation: You should prepare a monologue written by Shakespeare (dramatic or comedic). It does not have to be memorized…although that would be nice. It should showcase your ability to understand what you are reading and bring meaning and depth to the portrayal. I have included some at the bottom of this page, but feel free to use another if it suits you better.

Rehearsals will typically run Sunday through Thursday evenings
Productions are May 23 & 24 at The Murphy Theatre
