At 8p Jon Kovach will portray the high school teacher Ron Jones from his ’13 Cincinnati Fringe hit THE WAVE, on The Underground Stage at The Know Theatre of Cincinnati.
Based on a true story THE WAVE by Ron Jones, is a narrative about a young 1960’s California history teacher who wanted to deter his students from the allure of totalitarianism. His daring social experiment succeeded beyond his wildest expectations, creating a fascist state on campus. Replete with salutes and Gestapo-like informants, 30 students grew to 200 as this exercise in fascism spiraled out of control. The “experiment” illustrates how individual freedoms can be quickly abandoned and willfully repressed for collective goals and racism as happened in the rise of Nazi Germany and the treatment of the Jews during World War II.
NOTHING by Nic Balthazar

At 9:30p Kovach will play the high school student Ben from his inter-regionally award-winning production NOTHING by Nic Balthazar.
Inspired by true events, NOTHING is a multi-media production featuring Ben, a young wordsmith/technology enthusiast with autism. Using poetry, music, and video, Ben shares his story of meeting “Barbie” in a divine online connection, standing up to his high school bullies, and finding ways to fit into a “normal” world.
At intermission, Jon Kovach will be shaving his beard (which has gotten quite long from his current role in The Know Theatre of Cincinnati’s MOBY DICK).
This event is being held as possibly the last time that these productions will be performed for the Cincinnati public.
Additionally, Kovach will be touring THE WAVE around as private performances around Cincinnati (National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, local high schools), and on Nov. 19th, will be performing NOTHING by Nic Balthazar in the United Solo Theatre Festival in NYC.
