CHILDREN’S CHORUS/ENSEMBLE
“Big-the Musical” requires a large children’s chorus which is highlighted in several production numbers throughout the show. Children of all ages are encouraged to audition. While all ages will be cast, the majority of the children’s chorus will be in the 10 to 15 year old age range.
While not required, children with special athletic abilities (tumbling, skateboarding, roller skating, rollerblading, jump roping and other) are encouraged to bring the appropriate equipment to the audition to demonstrate their abilities. Please note that NOT all children roles will require athletic abilities.
ADULT CHORUS/ENSEMBLE
“Big-the musical” also requires an adult chorus of various ages to play several supporting and cameo roles (parents, executives, carnival & toy store workers) throughout the show.

The Principal speaking/singing roles in “Big-the musical” are as follows:

- MRS. BASKIN (MOM) Early to mid-30’s
- MacMILLAN Early to mid-50’s
- PAUL 25 to 35 years old
- MS. WATSON 50 to 60 years old
- CYNTHIA BENSON 14 to 15 years old
- TOM 30 to 40 years old
- NICK 30 to 40 years old
- ABIGAIL 30 to 40 years old
- DIANE 30 to 40 years old
Children and Adults should prepare one song in a Musical Theatre style. Singing a song from the show is acceptable but not required.
Piano accompaniment as well as CD playback will be available for the audition.
Please bring a complete list of conflict dates from January through mid-March.
We will have one rehearsal the week of December 15th to distribute scripts, music and rehearsal schedules.
Full rehearsals will begin the first week of January.
We will rehearse 3 to 4 nights per-week in January and February (weather permitting). The majority of the cast will only be required 2 to 3 nights per-week. Children will be released no later than 8:45PM on school nights.
We will rehearse 4 nights per-week the first two weeks in March.
The specific days of the week we rehearse will be determined after the show is cast.
The show will be performed at Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton Campus of Miami University on March 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22.
