In order to ensure that everyone—not just the wealthy and elite—can take part in live theatre in Cincinnati, Know Theatre now provides Wednesday night performances of MainStage productions completely FREE of charge to anyone who wants to see a show. This new initiative began during the MainStage Season 17 opener Harry & The Thief, and now continues with the regional premiere of MOBY DICK, running now through November 8.

Inspired by Mixed Blood Theatre Company of Minneapolis and their Radical Hospitality initiative, Know Theatre’s Welcome Experiment benefits anyone for whom the price of a regular admission ticket is just too high.

Know Theatre believes that by offering opportunities to see productions free-of-charge, more people across our community will be able to take part—be they neighbors facing economic hardship, fellow artists, students struggling to make ends meet, or people who simply don’t regularly attend live theatre (but might, if it were offered at a lower cost).

So far, the program is working: 52% of our last Welcome Experiment audience had never been to a show at Know before. Even more impressively, over 9% had never seen a live play before.

Welcome Experiment performances of MOBY DICK will take place the on the following dates:

October 15, 22, and 29; and November 5. All Welcome Experiment performances are at 8PM.

FREE Welcome Experiment tickets can be reserved online via the knowtheatre.com website, or in person at the Know Theatre Box Office after 7 PM on the night of each Welcome Experiment performance. Please note that pre-reserved tickets MUST be picked up by 7:45 or be subject to release at the discretion of Know Theatre staff.

Where: Know Theatre of Cincinnati. 1120 Jackson Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
