Cincinnati’s Showbiz Players announces the cast for the regional community theater premiere of “SPRING AWAKENING, the multiple Tony-winning musical based on one of the most controversial plays in theater history.
Jennifer McGuire and Jered Ryan share directing duties, with musical direction by Alan Masters and choreography by Jules Shumate. Bill Geraghty and Mark D. Motz will produce.
The cast features the following:

- Anna – Katie Bakes
- Melchior – Steffen Whorton
- Moritz – Kevin Rutkowski
- Georg – Robert Breslin
- Hanschen – Greg Shaffer
- Otto – Drew Semindinger
- Ernst – Luka Ashley Carter
- Adult Women – Michelle Grove Shaffer
- Adult Men – Brian Berendt
“We’re grateful to all the people who came out and auditioned,” McGuire said. “There is a huge interest in performing this show and they gave us some difficult choices to make. I think we came up with an excellent cast that will really work well with this challenging material.”
“We’re excited to have this step finished,” Ryan said. “We’re look forward to the start of rehearsals in February and seeing this cast come together to make an amazing show.”
SPRING AWAKENING features book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, based on the play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. The show runs May 31 to June 8, 2013, at the Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center, 1028 Scott Blvd., Covingon, KY.
