Indiana University’s Department of Theatre and Drama seeks applications for a full-time, twelve month, Professor of Practice in Costume Technology to join an active and collaborative Design & Technology faculty. This faculty member will create a new MFA track in Costume Technology and will be responsible for building program, developing curriculum, teaching, participating in departmental production program, and recruiting three fully funded MFA students. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in areas of period dressmaking, menswear/tailoring, understructures and pattern development. This position will teach two courses per semester at the graduate and upper division undergraduate levels, mentor graduates in costume technology and serve as a lead cutter/draper on two productions per academic year. This faculty will be part of the production team for the Indiana Festival Theatre (IFT) which is the professional summer theatre company produced by the department.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a national profile in costume technology and significant professional theatre experience. Terminal degree and teaching experience also important. Terminal degree and/or major professional work required.
Salary is competitive, with startup and research funds available. Indiana University has an outstanding benefits package. Position hired on an initial three-year contract, renewable for a permanent, long-term contract.
