The 2012 Fringe Festival kicked off Wednesday with two sell-out performances by local artists.
First was THE SWEET, BURNING YONDER directed by Michael Burnham. Four performances remain:
- Fri, June 1 at 9:15pm
- Sun, June 3 at 4:15pm
- Wed, June 6 at 8:30pm
- Fri, June 8 at 7pm
Also selling out was GRIM AND FISCHER: A Deathly Comedy in Full-Face Mask. The word from patrons at the bar series is that this is an outstanding show, with comparisons being made to 7×1 SAMURAI (one of my all-time favorite Fringe shows). Only two performances remain:
- Thu, May 31 at 7pm
- Sat, June 2 at 8:15pm
Another show that has patrons buzzing is METHTACULAR!, the story of Steven Strafford’s life in Chicago as a Crystal Meth addict. Only two performances remain for this production as well:
- Thu, May 31 at 8:30pm
- Sat, June 2 at 9pm
For my first night, I caught BREAKING RANK! and QUAKE: A Closet Love Story. Reviews coming as soon as I can get them written.
I hope to see you out and about in OTR tomorrow night.
