Know Theatre Previews BIG GAY DANCE PARTY for GLSEN Greater Cincinnati

Know Theatre of Cincinnati is happy to partner with GLSEN Greater Cincinnati for a Pay-What-You-Can preview performance benefit of ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S BIG GAY DANCE PARTY, Friday, November 25 at 8:00pm. This special Pay-What-You-Can preview is first-come, first served, with tickets available beginning at 7:00pm at the Know’s 1120 Jackson Street performance space. Proceeds benefit the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network of Greater Cincinnati, dedicated to assuring that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S BIG GAY DANCE PARTY by Aaron Loeb follows Ms. Harmony Green’s fourth-grade class as it presents a new take on the traditional Christmas pageant in a rural Illinois town. The production sets off a firestorm of controversy when it calls into question Honest Abe’s sexual orientation — based on historical facts. The thought-provoking, laugh-out-loud funny, and uniquely American story unfolds, offering surprises at every turn. Each of the three acts lets the audience see the story from a different character’s viewpoint. Oh, and of course, there’s plenty of big gay dancing!

The production contains adult language and situations and is appropriate for PG-13 audiences.

GLSEN Greater Cincinnati works to provide safe spaces for all students through events like its annual LGBTQ Youth Summit (in September) and Prom (May 5, 2012), as well as the newly launched weekly Youth Group designed for all high school youth who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, questioning or allied to build friendships and explore identity while promoting a community founded upon equality, acceptance and diversity.
