Acting Up, a volunteer, non-profit community theater, provides both onstage and backstage opportunities for children ages 6-18. In their past four seasons, Acting Up has been nominated for 174 Orchid awards, winning 59 of these from the Ohio Association of Community Theaters, including Excellence in Ensemble and Excellence in Dance Execution. In addition, nine of these talented teens are up for Cappie awards this weekend.

The FunRaiser will help support community theater in keeping ticket prices for other Acting Up shows at a reasonable cost, as expenses continue to rise dramatically with each production. It will also give the young performers the opportunity to perform some great contemporary numbers, from slightly more mature-themed productions; as well as favorites from Disney movies. Songs include varied selections from shows such as “Sweeney Todd” “Phantom of the Opera” “Aladdin” “The Last Five Years” “Annie” and “Mary Poppins.”

Tickets are $20 each ($10 is a tax-deductible donation) and are available online at www.ActingUp.com or at the box office starting one hour before the show. For more information call 513-494-6062. TDW_Jerry FinneganThe Drama Workshop’s production of JERRY FINNEGAN’S SISTER was selected to represent Ohio at this year’s AACT regional festival in Hartford, Wisconsin. We estimate that it’s going to cost $1200 to make the trip next month. ACT Cincinnati has kicked in $300, and OCTA has donated $200 towards this effort. We have a Kickstarter campaign going to help us get the rest of the way.

Northwestern University’s EXTREME MEASURES in Concert at CCDS

Friday, April 13 at 6:30pm
Cincinnati Country Day School’s Keeler Theater

Alumni Event featuring Carly Cantor ‘08

Carly Cantor

Extreme Measures is a student-directed 18-member a cappella group hailing from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. The group will be on campus on Friday, April 13 for two concerts: one during the school day for Upper School students, and another that evening for the general public. Group member Carly Cantor is a 2008 graduate of CCDS, and she is excited to bring her group to her alma mater. There will be a small alumni reception after the evening performance.

Showtime is 6:30 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door, and donations will also be accepted. The group will be selling their CD’s at the reception following.

“The diverse members of Extreme Measures represent majors spanning from Theatre to Economics to Psychology. Our musical arrangements range from Top 40 to Rock to 90s Throwbacks. We take pride in producing our own fall and spring shows as well as performing at many NU events on campus such as Dance Marathon, various fraternity and sorority philanthropies, and Parents’ Weekend.

We also feel privileged to be frequently sought-after for gigs in and around the Chicago area. Extreme Measures has had the opportunity in its short history to travel across the Midwest to sing with other collegiate a cappella groups. In addition, we have proudly represented Northwestern at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAs). Aside from competing, we are excited beyond belief for our first studio album, “Extremities”, which was released this past September!

The only thing stronger than our love of music is our love for each other. Along with dabbling in the musical arts, EM enjoys late night beach outings, adventures on the Megabus, and singing in the dark.”

Carly Cantor ’08 is currently a senior at Northwestern, finishing her Theatre Major in the Musical Theatre Certificate Program, as well as a Minor in Communications Sciences and Disorders. She was recently accepted to the graduate school at NYU in the Speech language Pathology program. While at CCDS, Carly was an integral part of the music and theatre programs, taking the stage as Babe in The Pajama Game and Belle in Beauty and the Beast, while also performing and working for several area community and professional theatre organizations.
