Adaptation of Holiday Classic Performs Two Weekends Only
Hugo West Productions, the same company responsible for the Cincinnati and Indianapolis Fringe Festival hit, Don’t Cross The Streams: The Cease and Desist Musical, now bring the Cincinnati premiere of A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL to the Tri-State. Written by Christopher Kidder-Mostrom and Sasha Walloch, A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL was first performed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 2007, moving to Chicago in 2010 and will perform there in its fourth straight year. 2013 marks the first time that the show will be produced in Cincinnati, simultaneously with the Minnesota and Chicago productions.
Created within the Star Trek franchise, Klingons have been a part of popular culture since their introduction in the 1960s. This adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic tells the tale of Squ’ja as he learns to embrace the Klingon Warrior Code of Honor and will be performed in Klingon with English supertitles. “During the holidays, it’s tradition to see A Christmas Carol and we are excited to be able to present this uniquely refreshing version,” said Michael Hall, director and producer of A Klingon Christmas Carol. “You don’t have to be a Star Trek fan to appreciate our Scrooge’s tale of redemption. We promise you’ll leave with a smile on your face and an experience you’ll be talking about all holiday season!”
In addition to A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL’s long list of credentials, Chris Lipscombe who helped with the original translation of the play serves as Language Consultant and Jonn Baca, member of the Society of American Fight Directors, is fight choreographer.
Performance dates for A KLINGON CHRISTMAS CAROL are December 11 through 15 and December 18 through 22. All show times are 8 PM, except Sundays at 5 PM, and will be performed at the Art Academy of Cincinnati: 1212 Jackson Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Advance tickets are available online at www.seatyourself.biz/cincykcc. Tickets are $20 for general admission seating.
